ARRIVAL (2016) Extended TV Trailer: Amy Adams Attempts Communication with Aliens

Amy Adams Arrival

Arrival Trailer

Denis Villeneuve‘s Arrival (2016) extended TV trailer stars Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Forest Whitaker, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Mark O’Brien. Arrival‘s plot synopsis: based on a short story by Ted Chiang, “When mysterious spacecrafts touch down across the globe, an elite team – lead by expert linguist Louise Banks (Amy Adams) – is brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers – and to find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity.”

This film looks great. It immediately reminded my of the Carl Sagan book Contact (and the lackluster film adaptation). This teaser trailer, labeled “TV Spot”, doesn’t give much away. Recent alien films e.g. Prometheus & Independence Day: Resurgence have all been about horror and scares rather than an intellectual explorations. Arrival is the latter.

Arrival also stars Tzi Ma, Nathaly Thibault, Joe Cobden, Abigail Pniowsky, Julian Casey, Russell Yuen, Pat Kiely, Larry Day, Max Walker, and Frank Fiola.
