Theron is portraying Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly who for years was subjected to Ailes’ harassment. Kidman plays Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson who wound up filing a lawsuit against Ailes. While Robbie is playing a fictional character, Fox News associate producer Kayla Pospisil. Robbie’s character was invented for the movie, but she is based on an amalgam of real Fox news figures.
