Box Office: April 8-10, 2011: HOP, ARTHUR, HANNA, SOUL SURFER

Animation ruled again. Hop was Number One at the box office this weekend for the second week in a row with $21.6 Million. Arthur (2011) premiered in Second Place with $12.6 Million. Hanna premiered in Third Place with $12.3 Million. Soul Surfer premiered in Fourth Place with $11.1 Million. Insidious was Fifth with 9.7 Million. Source Code, Limitless, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules, and The Lincoln Lawyer rounded out the top ten respectively.

Arthur is a 2011 comedy film written by Peter Baynham and directed by Jason Winer. The film is based on characters by Steve Gordon, who directed the 1981 film of the same name. It stars Russell Brand in the title role, and Helen Mirren, Jennifer Garner, Greta Gerwig, and Nick Nolte with supporting roles.

Hanna is a 2011 action thriller film directed by Joe Wright, starring Saoirse Ronan, Cate Blanchett, and Eric Bana.

Soul Surfer is a 2011 American drama film about the life of surfer Bethany Hamilton, who lost her left arm in a shark attack when she was 13 years old. The film is directed by Sean McNamara, who based the screenplay on Hamilton’s biographical book of the same name and on filmmakers’ interviews with the family. AnnaSophia Robb stars as Hamilton, and Dennis Quaid and Helen Hunt star as Hamilton’s parents.

Your Highness is a 2011 fantasy comedy film directed by David Gordon Green. Filming began in the summer of 2009 in Northern Ireland and concluded in October 2009. Your Highness stars Danny McBride, Natalie Portman, Rasmus Hardiker, Toby Jones, Justin Theroux, Zooey Deschanel, and James Franco.
