Box Office August 31-September 2, 2012. The Possession premiered in the Number One spot at the box office over the weekend with $17.7 Million. Lawless premiered in Second Place with $10 Million. The Expendables 2 was Third with $8.9 Million. The Bourne Legacy was Fourth with $7.3 Million. ParaNorman was Fifth with $6.5 Million. The Odd Life of Timothy Green, The Dark Knight Rises, The Campaign, 2016 Obama’s America, and Hope Springs rounded out the top ten respectively.

The Possession is a 2012 supernatural horror film directed by Ole Bornedal and co-produced by Sam Raimi.

Lawless is a 2012 gangster film directed by John Hillcoat based on Matt Bondurant’s 2008 novel The Wettest County in the World about his grandfather and great-uncles in Prohibition-era Franklin County, Virginia. The novel was adapted into a screenplay by Nick Cave, and the film stars Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Jason Clarke and Guy Pearce.
