Box Office: May 4, 2008

Robert Downey Jr. and his metal suit are truly made of iron. In its first weekend, Iron Man premiered with $100.7 Million dollars on 4,105 screens. I knew the film would be Number One but I never expected the film to make that much money. Wow. That is a massive and very impressive take. I saw the film this morning and it defiantly deserves the money it made. Look for a review soon. This is great news for director Jon Favreau and automatically locks Iron Man for a sequel. Favreau will be able to write his own ticket now like Zack Synder after 300’s success. Made of Honor also premiered this weekend and opened in Second Place with $15.5 Million. Baby Mama was Number Three and made $10.3 Million this weekend while dropping 40.6% of its audience from its premiere last week. In Fourth Place was Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which made $6.1 Million. Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay was Fifth and brought in $6 Million while dropping 59.7% of it audience from its premiere last week. The Forbidden Kingdom, Nim’s Island, Prom Night (2008), 21 and 88 Minutes rounded out the top ten this weekend respectively.
