CAROL (2015) Movie Poster: Todd Haynes’ New Classic Receives Poster

Carol Poster

Carol Movie Poster ArrivesThe New York Film Festival screened Todd Haynes‘ new film, Carol (2015), to wide praise and glowing reviews – you can read mine here (I loved it). The film is a beautifully shot, written and acted tale of relationships, love and life in America in the 1950s. Set in New York City and the countryside outskirts in the middle of winter, its a cozy, charming film about the lows of a broken heart and the highs of adventure and possibility. There’s true humor, melancholy, and regret in this film.It looks incredible, the acting by Rooney Mara and Cate Blanchett is top-notch, and I couldn’t help but fall into the screen while watching the film. It was a really immersive experience, and I remember the film like novel I read fondly as a romantic 19 year old.

We’ve now been treated to a poster for the film, and though I think they could’ve done better, it’s still a very good one. Take a look below:

According to Empire, “This Patricia Highsmith adaptation is set amid Manhattan’s frosty post-war climate. Within this social and moral cold war, two women, Mara’s shop clerk Therese Belivet and Blanchett’s unhappily married Carol, meet and fall in love. If you’ve seen Haynes’ Far From Heaven – a very different film from this one – you’ll know that liberation can come with a heavy price in ‘50s America.

Haynes’ film has been adapted from Highsmith’s only crime-free novel, The Price Of Salt, by Phyllis Nagy and also boasts Jake Lacy, Sarah Paulson and Kyle Chandler in its cast. Blanchett, Mara and their director and writer are all in the awards conversation as trophy season continues.

Carol will be on general release here on November 27, and you can see the trailer below.”

I grew up in Hamburg to a German father and Ecuadorian mother. Obsessive student of film, Hip-Hop, and stand-up comedy. I love the dark dreambox that is the cinema auditorium. I love mountains and the ocean, but am equally exhilarated by the jungle of the city. I hope to one day create something that hits someone in the brain with thunderous effect.
