Cinephile Deal: Kingdom of Heaven: Director’s Cut Blu-Ray for $11.99

Kingdom of Heaven Director’s Cut is on sale at Amazon for $11.99, 63% off the $30 suggested retail price. I believe this is one of Amazon’s special offers that only lasts a few days. Hours ago the price was $10.99 or so SlashFilm says. Wish I had jumped on it, even though it was only a buck difference. This is similar to the current deal for The Dark Knight Blu-ray for $9.99. If you are a fans of either film, I would jump  and purchase quickly. For those that have not seen The Director’s Cut of Kingdom of Heaven, I have four things to tell you: 1.) the film is completely balanced in comparison to the regular edition, 2.) its bloodier, 3.) the minor characters are fleshed out and given more weight, and 4.) in comparison to Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven: Director’s Cut is the clear winner, hands down. There is simply more meat on the bone with the Director’s Cut and more questions are answered. Too bad the studio interfered. The Director Cut is a completely different and better film. Read about the differences between the two film in the customer reviews here. The only down side is that all of the extras found on the Kingdom of Heaven: Director’s Cut 4-Disc DVD are not present. I found this extremely odd and disappointing, especially with the storage capacity of a blu-ray. Was there really no more room. A two-disc blu-ray, one with the extras and one with the film was out of the questions? Oh well, at least we get the director’s cut in a gorgeous presentation.
