Plot Synopsis

Dear Comrades‘ plot synopsis: “When the communist government raises food prices in 1962, the rebellious workers from the small industrial town of Novocherkassk go on strike. The massacre which then ensues is seen through the eyes of a devout party activist.”

The film, shot in stark black and white, follows a Russian woman (played by Russian actress Julia Vysotskaya) as she searches for her young missing daughter during the bloody aftermath.

the critically-acclaimed black-and-white Russian historical drama that dramatizes the 1962 Novocherkassk massacre. This was an organized labor strike in the Russian city of Novocherkassk, during which the Soviet army and KGB agents committed a massacre against unarmed protesters who were protesting the rising cost of dairy products and meat. 26 people were killed. 87 were wounded during the tragic event.
