Kathryn Bigelow‘s Detroit (2017) movie trailer 2 stars John Boyega, Will Poulter, Algee Smith, Jacob Latimore, and Jason Mitchell. Detroit‘s plot synopsis: “From the Academy Award winning director of THE HURT LOCKER and ZERO DARK THIRTY, DETROIT tells the gripping story of one of the most terrifying moments during the civil unrest that rocked Detroit in the summer of ’67.”

Detroit will immediately remind the viewer of L.A. Confidential in numerous ways: the cops bending rules, intimidating people that they are interviewing, threatening them, and a bad shooting. The “blue wall” seems as though it was iron clad fifty years ago with police officers doing everything that they could to protect each other.

I was surprised what happens to Melvin Dismukes (John Boyega), who was only trying to do the right thing.

It actually looks as though Dismukes went above and beyond what his duties were as a security guard. I am always surprised in these situations when the questioning begins to turn, why they never ask for a lawyer. Even when they are innocent, they never ask until it is too late.

Detroit also stars Hannah Murray, Kaitlyn Dever, Jack Reynor, Ben O’Toole, Joseph David Jones, Ephraim Sykes, Leon Thomas III, Nathan Davis Jr., Peyton Alex Smith, Malcolm David Kelley, Gbenga Akinnabve, Chris Chalk, Jeremy Strong, Laz Alonzo, Austin Hebert, Miguel Pimentel, Kris Davis, John Krasinski, and Anthony Mackie.
