DVD / Blu-ray News February 5, 2013. The DVD / Blu-ray News for this week includes Sushi Girl, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and Skyfall.
Sushi Girl
Magnolia Home Entertainment has released the trailer for Sushi Girl starring Mark Hamill, Noah Hathaway, Danny Trejo, Sonny Chiba, Michael Biehn, Courtney Palm, James Duval, Andy Mackenzie, Cyrus Alexander, David Dastmalchian, Jeff Fahey, Cortney Palm, Destin Pfaff, and Stryker. Hathaway stars as Fish, a newly released ex-con who spent six years in prison taking the rap for his partners in a robbery. They reunite to reminisce over a meal of sushi served off the body of a beautiful naked girl. Things quickly go south as the group demands their cut of the take Fish hid before being locked up. Sushi Girl debuts on Blu-ray and DVD February 19th.
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2
Lionsgate Home Entertainment announced a March 2nd release date for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2. The DVD ($30.98) and Blu-ray ($39.99) will contain a bonus audio commentary by director Bill Condon, a Two Movies at Once featurette, a 7-part Making of (“Rebirth,” “Renesmee,” “The Cottage,” “The Gathering,” “The Field,” “The Battle,” “Forever”), a Green Day video for “The Forgotten,” and a digital UltraViolet copy of the movie. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Peter Facinelli, Dakota Fanning, Kellan Lutz, Maggie Grace, Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Mackenzie Foy, Michael Sheen, Elizabeth Reaser, Jackson Rathbone, Jamie Campbell Bower, and Joe Anderson.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is due out on DVD Special Edition ($28.98) , 3-disc Blu-ray combo ($35.99), and 5-disc Blu-ray 3D combo ($45.95) on March 19th with streaming available a week earlier. All three sets include the documentary New Zealand: Home of Middle Earth, five theatrical trailers (Dwarves, Letter Opener, Bilbo Contract, Gandalf Wagers, and Gollum Paths), 10 behind-the-scenes video blogs (Start of Production, Location Scouting, Shooting Block One, Filming in 3-D, Locations: Part 1, Locations: Part 2, Stone St. Studios Tour, Wrap of Principal Photography, Post-Production Overview, and Wellington World Premiere), and three video game trailers (The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle Earth, Guardians of Middle Earth, and Lego The Lord of the Rings); all three sets also include an UltraViolet digital copy. Warner Home Video also announced the extended version will be available on DVD, Blu-ray, and Blu-ray 3D in time for the holidays. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey stars Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Andy Serkis, Richard Armitage, Christopher Lee, Dean O’Gorman, Aidan Turner, John Callen, Peter Hambleton, Jed Brophy, Adam Brown, Mark Hadlow, Evangeline Lilly, Barry Humphries, Hugo Weaving, Cate Blanchett, Ian Holm, Elijah Wood, Orlando Bloom, Benedict Cumberbatch, Luke Evans, Stephen Fry, Ryan Gage, Stephen Hunter, William Kircher, Sylvester McCoy, Bret McKenzie, Graham McTavish, Mike Mizrahi, James Nesbitt, Lee Pace, Mikael Persbrandt, Conan Stevens, Ken Stott, and Jeffrey Thomas.
This just in: director Peter Jackson will offer Hobbit fans a sneak peek at the new film The Hobbit: the Desolation of Smaug via a live streaming event on Sunday, March 24th at 3:00pm Eastern time. The film is due in theaters on December 13th.
Skyfall
Despite rumors of a March release, MGM has set an official release date of February 22nd for Skyfall. Planned extras include the Skyfall trailer, the Skyfall premiere, commentaries from director Sam Mendes, producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, and production designer Dannis Gassner, and Shooting Bond. Shooting Bond is a multi-part behind-the-scenes look including the opening sequence, title sequence, 007, Q, DB5, women, villains, action, locations, music, end sequence, M, and the future. We still don’t have any official word on audio or visual specs. stars Thomas Newman, David Arnold, Javier Bardem, Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, Helen McCrory, Javier Bardem, Tonia Sotiropoulou, Bérénice Marlohe, Judi Dench, Naomie Harris, Albert Finney, Ben Whishaw, Tom Wu, and Michael G. Wilson.
