The Stranger

François Ozon's black-and-white adaptation of Albert Camus's novel stars Benjamin Voisin as Meursault, a clerk in 1940s Algiers under French colonial rule. In the wake of his mother's death, events draw him into the killing of an Arab man on a beach and a trial that grips the nation. Rebecca Marder plays Marie, with Pierre Lottin and Denis Lavant in support.
