Shia LaBeouf The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will bring Michael Haneke‘s Academy Award-winning drama Amour (2012) to the small screen August 20, 2013. The film, which also won the Palm d’Or at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, stars Emmanuelle Riva and Jean-Louis Trintignant as an elderly couple challenged by illness and age who continue to love through it all.

Millennium Entertainment has just acquired the US distribution rights to The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman (2013) starring Mads Mikkelsen, Shia LaBeouf, Vincent D’Onofrio, John Hurt, Melissa Leo, and Til Schweiger. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and marks the directoral debut of Swedish filmmaker Fredrik Bond.

HBO has announced a release date for its five-part miniseries in collaboration with BBC, Parade’s End. Director Susanna White examines England’s evolution over the ten years from the Edwardian era to the end of World War I through the eyes of an uptight aristocrat, Christopher Tietjens (Benedict Cumberbatch). Tietjens marries a manipulative and unfaithful socialite then finds himself drawn to a captivating young suffragette all while his way of life crumbles around him. The Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy Combo Pack will premiere September 10, 2013.

British distribution house Metrodome will release the crime drama The Wee Man (2013) on Blu-ray in the UK July 8, 2013. Writer/Director Ray Burdis film follows the growth of a young Scottish boy into a notorious gangster. It stars Patrick Bergin, Hannah Blamires, and Steven Borrie.

Anne Fontaine‘s critically acclaimed Perfect Mothers (Adore) (2013) starring Naomi Watts, Robin Wright, Ben Mendelsohn, Xavier Samuel, and Sophie Lowe will be released by French distributors Gaumont on August 21, 2013. The drama follows two lifelong friends who fall in love with each other’s sons incurring the judgment of those in their small community. The Blu-ray will feature a stills gallery.

Momentum Pictures will release director Régis Roinsard‘s Populaire (2012) starring Romaine Duris, Déborah François, and Berenice Bejo on September 23, 2013. Roinsard‘s film set in the 1950’s follows a young woman bored with her existence and yearning for more.

The iconic The Postman Always Rings Twice (1981) will finally find its way to Blu-ray on September3, 2013. David Mamet‘s and Bob Rafelson‘s adaptation of the James M. Cain novel stars Jack Nicholson, Jessica Lane, and John Colicos had been delayed from its intended release in 2012.
