Dennis Gansel‘s Mechanic: Resurrection (2016) movie trailer stars Jason Statham, Jessica Alba, Tommy Lee Jones, Michelle Yeoh, and Natalie Burn. Mechanic: Resurrection‘s plot synopsis: “Arthur Bishop [Jason Statham] returns as the Mechanic in the sequel to the 2011 action thriller. When the deceitful actions of a cunning but beautiful woman [Jessica Alba] force him to return to the life he left behind, Bishop’s life is once again in danger as he has to complete an impossible list of assassinations of the most dangerous men in the world.”

This sequel looks better than the original but that was not a high hill to climb. The first film, a remake of the infinitely better Charles Bronson film of the same name, was a by-the-numbers action film. Adding a pugnacious Jessica Alba into The Mechanic formula was a good move but it all comes down to the plot-line, dialogue, and action. This film seems heavy on action. Whether it has an engaging plot-line and entertaining dialogue remains to be seen.

Mechanic: Resurrection was not designed to be a Schindler’s List-grade drama. It’s a popcorn film. Hopefully it’s a John Wick-like popcorn film.

Mechanic: Resurrection also stars Yayaying Rhatha Phongam, Sam Hazeldine, Aaron Brumfield, John Cenatiempo, Raicho Vasilev, Damian Mavis, Eoin O’Brien, Katrina Grey, Tomer Oz, and Rachel O’Meara.
