Desiree Akhavan‘s The Miseducation of Cameron Post (2018) movie trailer stars Chloe Grace Moretz, Jennifer Ehle, John Gallagher Jr., Sasha Lane, and Forrest Goodluck. The Miseducation of Cameron Post‘s plot synopsis, based on the celebrated novel by Emily M. Danforth, “The Miseducation of Cameron Post follows Cameron (Chloe Grace Moretz) as she is sent to a gay conversion therapy center after getting caught with another girl in the back seat of a car on prom night.

Run by the strict and severe Dr. Lydia Marsh (Jennifer Ehle) and her brother, Reverend Rick (John Gallagher Jr.) — himself an example of how those in the program can be “cured” — the center is built upon repenting for “same sex attraction.” In the face of intolerance and denial, Cameron meets a group of fellow sinners including the amputee stoner Jane (Sasha Lane), and her friend, the Lakota Two-Spirit, Adam (Forrest Goodluck). Together, this group of teenagers form an unlikely family as they fight to survive.”

FilmBook writer Sam Joseph reviewed The Miseducation of Cameron Post at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival and had this to say about the film:

Miseducation presented one real consequence of the Family Values rebrand having been allowed to go mainstream. Never mind that (in light of just how far the LGBTQ community has come) this is something of a forgotten period; the fact that the United States is currently a Vice-Presidency away, from a promised return to just such Values, likely explains why this film was made.

It wasn’t just a reminder of where American society once was, it was a warning of what we might be allowing back.

The Miseducation of Cameron Post also stars Emily Skeggs, Quinn Shephard, Owen Campbell, Isaac Jin Solstein, and Marin Ireland.
