Mcquarrie claimed that despite reports to the contrary, production was not shut down in order to rewrite the film’s ending. Instead the crew needed the additional time to “prep” for the ending. Shooting in 48 fps was a factor for the additional prep work.

Fan favorite tech-guru Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg) will spend more time in the field in this movie and “get his hands dirty.”

Speaking of expanded roles, Jeremy Renner and Ving Rhames characters will have more to do relative to their roles in Ghost Protocol.

Paula Patton and Maggie Q won’t be returning to the film due to scheduling conflicts.

The new film will be closer in tone to the original television series as well as Brian De Palma’s 1996 installment.

Anxious fans can expect the debut of the film’s first trailer “very soon.”
