Plot Synopsis

My Son’s plot synopsis: “Driving in the heart of the Highlands, Edmond Murray (James McAvoy) receives a call from his ex-wife (Claire Foy), in tears. Their 7-year-old son went missing from a campsite. Soon it becomes clear that the child was kidnapped and the parents give way to despair.”

More on the plot of film and the way it was shot:

Like the original French film, the screenplay was constructed in a way where the actors weren’t given certain plot details. It seems McAvoy and Foy’s job was to mostly improvise and react to each moment as the mystery unfolded in front of them. The film was shot in real-time as it followed James McAvoy’s character throughout the entire duration of his journey to find his son.
