Actor Patrick Swayze died at the age of 57 with family in Los Angeles yesterday evening. I was a fan of Swayze’s since I was a child and first saw Red Dawn and was saddened by the news. I was hoping, like others, that he would beat his pancreatic cancer. I have seen many of his films, including The Outsiders, Ghost, Dirty Dancing, Powder Blue, and Donnie Darko. I also saw every episode of his undercover FBI show The Beast, which aired last season on A&E. During the series, he would not take painkillers for his illness because he felt it would effect his performance. That’s an actor. At least now he is free of the pain of his illness. Rest in peace Patrick.
