Plot Synopsis

Piggy‘s plot synopsis: “With the summer sun beating down on her rural Spanish town, Sara (Laura Galán) hides away in her parent’s butcher shop. A teenager whose excess weight makes her the target of incessant bullying, she flees a clique of capricious girls who torment her at the town pool, only to stumble upon them being brutally kidnapped by a stranger, who drives off with them in his van. When the police begin asking questions around town, Sara keeps quiet. Intrigued by the stranger — an interest that’s mutual — she’s torn between revealing the truth and protecting the man who saved her.”

Review

FilmBook writer David McDonald reviewed this film at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival and had this to say about the film:

The depth and cleverness among the buckets of blood puts Piggy a cut (or two) among others for aficionados of grindhouse cinema. For those who are not, there is plenty to appreciate this film in retrospect.

On Movie Trailers

“A trailer (also known as a preview or attraction video) is a commercial advertisement, originally for a feature film that is going to be exhibited in the future at a movie theater/cinema. It is a product of creative and technical work…Trailers consist of a series of selected shots from the film being advertised. Since the purpose of [this advertisement] is to attract an audience to the film, these excerpts are usually drawn from the most exciting, funny, or otherwise noteworthy parts of the film but in abbreviated form and usually without producing spoilers. For this purpose the scenes are not necessarily in the order in which they appear in the film. [This type of ad] has to achieve that in less than 2 minutes and 30 seconds, the maximum length allowed by the MPA. Each studio or distributor is allowed to exceed this time limit once a year, if they feel it is necessary for a particular film.”
