Rooney Mara W Magazine Cover Photos February 2011: DRAGON TATTOO

Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander’s W Magazine February 2011 cover and photos have premiered. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011) article for The W Magazine is entitled David Fincher gets the Girl. In the article, David Fincher describes in full detail the process of casting The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011) and other issues surrounding the film including how the film is not as faithful a translation as the first film adaptation of Stieg Larsson‘s The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo was  – reviewed here: Film Review: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Män som hatar kvinnor) – and how the ending to the story has been changed. also talk about the hellish audition process she endured alongside the likes of Jennifer Lawrence and Natalie Portman; Fincher had five or six actresses act out Lisbeth’s big rape revenge scene– “The girls had to kick a dildo up his ass. That’s Salander’s big scene, and we had to see if they could do it.”

When asked about the audition process, Rooney shared, “They shot me in the subway in L.A. In full hair and makeup with a motorcycle. Everyday they had a new request. On a Monday morning, [director David Fincher] called me in, and I said, ‘what do you want me to do with my hair now?’ I was at the end of my rope. He told me I had the part. I hadn’t even read the script yet.”

Fincher added, “I wanted her from the beginning. Rooney maybe a trust-fund baby from football royalty but she’s level headed and hard working. It’s so odd how who people are comes out in auditions. We didn’t make it easy for Rooney and there was no way to dissuade her.”
