SNOWPIERCER (2013) Movie Poster, John Hurt, Ewen Bremner Interviews

Le Transperceneige Snowpiecer

Snowpiercer Poster, Interviews. Joon-ho Bong‘s Snowpiercer (2013) movie poster and John Hurt and Ewen Bremner interviews for the film have been released. The tagline present on the Snowpiercer poster is direct and to the point: “AD 2031. The Passengers in the Train are the Only Survivors on Earth”. I am dying to know what powers the train, how the railway was constructed, et ectera. Luckily there is the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige the film was based on for the answers.

A transcript from John Hurt’s Snowpiercer interview (the actual video interview is below):

In Snowpiercer I play kind of a… because there is kind of a microcosm of humanity all on a train, which is going all around the globe. You know, in a small ice age. Um it all sounds a bit preposterous, but the fact is that it’s based on a graphic novel, which is a French graphic novel from round about the 80’s. So, it is… kind of not real in that sense. It creates it’s own reality, you’ll see what I mean. And I’m playing an erstwhile leader, of revolutions, that is held in great regard by the young man who is leading the revolution at the moment. Because all the rift raft is at the back of the train and all the good ones live in the front of the train. So the revolution seizes through the train. And he (Joon-ho Bong) is a remarkable director. So, that is what I do there, but it turns out he is not as admirable as he might have been considered.

Snowpiercer also stars Chris Evans, Jamie Bell, Tilda Swinton, Alison Pill, Ed Harris, Octavia Spencer, Luke Pasqualino, Kenny Doughty, Kang-ho Song, Steve Park, Adnan Haskovic, Clark Middleton, and Vlad Ivanov.

Snowpiercer‘s plot synopsis: “The film is set in a future where, after a failed experiment to stop global warming, an Ice Age kills off all life on the planet except for the inhabitants of the Snow Piercer, a train that travels around the globe and is powered by a sacred perpetual-motion engine. A class system evolves on the train but a revolution brews.”
