Summer Glau joins Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse

Summer Glau will be joining Joss Whedon‘s Dollhouse. The conjecture is over. Starting in Dollhouse: Season 2, Summer Glau will have the recurring role of a character called Bennett on the show. Bennett is “a Dollhouse employee who shares a secret past with Eliza Dushku‘s Echo”. Some will remember the Grindhouse trailer for both actresses when Dollhouse and now deceased Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles aired last season on Friday nights. Perhaps that trailer was not a mere advertisement but a harbinger of the future. Summer Glau previously worked with Joss Whedon on the television show Firefly and its follow-up film Serenity. I was not happy that Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles was canceled, especially after its badass season finale or that Dollhouse was chosen for renewal over that show. Glau sci-fi casting news is always exciting though as is her re-uniting with Whedon. Who knows, maybe Whedon will pull a Firefly rabbit out of his Dollhouse hat this season. Dollhouse Season 2 will premiere on Fox at 9 PM on September 25, 2009.
