THE DARK KNIGHT RISES: Alon Aboutboul joins 2012 Batman Cast

Alon Aboutboul

Alon Aboutboul has joined the cast of The Dark Knight Rises. Alon Aboutboul in Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises (2012) brings up the question of whether Professor Hugo Strange will make an appearance in the Batman film. Professor Hugo Strange is a DC Comics villain that possesses “genius-level intelligence, [is a] master of psychology, [and has] trained to physical perfection with a high expertise in hand to hand combat”. So apparently we might have two muscle-bound, highly intelligent villans in The Dark Knight Rises, Bane (Tom Hardy) being the other.

The news of Alon Aboutboul joining the The Dark Knight Rises cast comes from an Israeli site. The actor’s wife confirmed the news on Twitter. While his character’s identity is not known at this point, Alon Aboutboul is said to be one of the sequel’s main villains, playing a “particularly evil mad scientist”.

For those of you who don’t know, Alon Aboutbou is

an Israeli actor who has appeared in small roles, in films such as Body of Lies, Munich, and Rambo III. He has also played a continuing character on the hit ABC series Castle.

I recently saw Alon Aboutbou on a great episode of J.J. AbramsFringe entitled Immortality, playing a scientist (Dr. Armand Silva) that kills a few to save many or so he rationalized to himself and others. I wish J.J Abrams, Bad Robot , and Fox did a follow-up episode to Immortality because that Fringe episode ended in a great way.

I also remember Alon Aboutbou distinctly as the main bad guy in Leonardo DiCaprio and Russel Crowe‘s Body of Lies, especially since the film has been on TV in heavy rotation lately. Alon Aboutbou joins a Batman film cast that already includes Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Anne Hathaway, Daniel Sunjata, Burn Gorman, Diego Klattenhoff, Josh Pence, Marion Cotillard, and Juno Temple.
