The Lords of the Rings TV Series Renewed for Season Two

Ahead of its 2021 premiere date, Amazon has renewed the TV adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien‘s The Lord of the Rings for a Second Season. The second season will be laid out and the majority of the screenplays will be written following a filming hiatus after the first two episodes of Season One have been completed. This will be accomplished by Amazon reassembling the writers’ room for the series, which Amazon has already given the go ahead for.

By going on a longer than normal hiatus, LOTR will be ready with Season 2 scripts so it could possibly film some Season 2 footage during the Season 1 shoot or even film the remainder of Season 1 and Season 2 back-to-back…That is considered a sensible approach for big-budget productions like LOTR as it helps find efficiencies because every filming ramp-up is expensive.
