THE MANDALORIAN: Season 2, Episode 8: The Rescue Video: Deepfake Tech Improves Luke Skywalker CGI

I had no problem with the way Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill and Max Lloyd-Jones) looked in The Mandalorian: Season 2, Episode 8: The Rescue. I was just glad he was there and used properly, in-line with his character from the original Star Wars films. Others, however, chided the CGI used to create young Luke Skywalker. Shamook, who runs a YouTube channel, created a Deepfake video that corrects and upgrades the Luke Skywalker CGI in The Rescue.

I have to admit, I was skeptical that a Deepfake could look in any way better than what a big budget studio could produce. And you know what? It does. It looks so much better that not only should Lucasfilm use that footage for the Luke CGI portions of The Rescue moving forward, they should hire the person that created Deepfake Luke to work in-house for them. The work is that good. It’s Shamook’s business card, his successful business card.
