TOONOCALYPSE (2015) Short Film: Cartoon Aliens Bring With Them the Apocalypse

Toonocalypse Short Film Poster

Toonocalypse Short Film. Owen Rixon‘s Toonocalypse (2015) short film stars Matt Martin, David Kaye, and James Carney. Toonocalypse‘s plot synopsis: “Toonocalypse follows John (David Kaye) and Michael (Matt Martin) two students living in Edinburgh, as they document the arrival of a species of small, cute, cartoon aliens, known as “Toons” to Earth. Over time the Toons become integrated into society and into John and Michael’s lives, but after a year on Earth, without warning, some of the Toons start to change into something far larger and scarier. As John and Michael try to survive in the streets of Edinburgh they start to learn the grim reality of the Toons’ true intentions.”

This is one of the strangest short films I have every seen but also one of the most original. You won’t see where this short is going until the very end. Creative use of “Toons” and live action.
