Plot Synopsis

Leave No Trace‘s plot synopsis: “The Boy Scouts are an American institution, lauded by multiple presidents as the epitome of integrity and described by one interviewee in the documentary Leave No Trace as “wholesome as apple pie.” But beneath its Norman Rockwell exterior lies a scandal—and a coverup—of shocking proportions. More than 82,000 men have come forward with charges of sexual abuse against scoutmasters and other authority figures within the Boy Scouts, prompting bankruptcy filings and a massive settlement that’s still moving through the U.S. court system. “

On Movie Reviews and Film Critics

“Film criticism is the analysis and evaluation of films and the film medium. In general, film criticism can be divided into two categories: journalistic criticism that appears regularly in newspapers, magazines and other popular mass-media outlets; and academic criticism by film scholars who are informed by film theory and are published in academic journals. Academic film criticism rarely takes the form of a review; instead it is more likely to analyze the film and its place in the history of its genre or in the whole of film history.

Film critics working for newspapers, magazines, broadcast media, and online publications mainly review new releases, although they also review older films. An important task for these reviews is to help readers decide whether they want to see a particular film. A film review will typically explain the premise of the film before discussing its merits or flaws. The verdict is often summarized using a rating system, such as 5- or 4-star scales, academic-style grades, and pictograms.”

Jacob Mouradian

A Midwest transplant in the Big Apple, Jacob can never stop talking about movies (it’s a curse, really). Although a video editor and sound mixer by trade, he’s always watching and writing about movies in his spare time. However, when not obsessing over Ken Russell films or delving into some niche corner of avant-garde cinema, he loves going on bike rides, drawing in his sketchbook, exploring all that New York City has to offer, and enjoying a nice cup of coffee.

Rollo Tomasi

Rollo Tomasi is a Connecticut-based film critic, TV show critic, news, and editorial writer. He will have a MFA in Creative Writing from Columbia University in 2025. Rollo has written over 700 film, TV show, short film, Blu-ray, and 4K-Ultra reviews. His reviews are published in IMDb's External Reviews and in Google News. Previously you could find his work at Empire Movies, Blogcritics, and AltFilmGuide. Now you can find his work at FilmBook.
