Brady Corbet‘s Vox Lux (2018) movie trailer stars Natalie Portman, Raffey Cassidy, Jude Law, Christopher Abbott, and Stacy Martin. Vox Lux‘s plots synopsis: “VOX LUX begins in 1999 when teenage sisters Celeste (Raffey Cassidy) and Eleanor (Stacy Martin) survive a seismic, violent tragedy. The sisters compose and perform a song about their experience, making something lovely and cathartic out of catastrophe — while also catapulting Celeste to stardom. By 2017, the now 31-year-old Celeste (Natalie Portman) is mother to a teenage daughter of her own and struggling to navigate a career fraught with scandals when another act of terrifying violence demands her attention.”

Vox Lux also stars Jennifer Ehle, Maria Dizzia, and Willem Dafoe (who serves as the narrator of the film).

FilmBook writer Deyan Angelov saw Vox Lux at the 2018 London Film Festival and had this to say about the film:

This is perhaps Vox Lux’s grandest achievement. In the few cases, when Corbet and Portman ask you to feel something real for Celeste, as if you are rooting for a friend, they succeed. You witness an almost completely insane story of people that go through way too much and ultimately, you don’t feel overwhelmed, even though maybe you should be. Natalie Portman’s transformation is so complete and her character as well as the world around her feel so authentic that even the regular viewer succeeds in stepping in the shoes of a star.
