WONDER WOMAN (2017): Patty Jenkins Talks About Superhero Film
Patty Jenkins Reflects On Making Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins got candid about how the highly-anticipated superhero film would handle the DC Comics classic character.
Expectations are high for the movie, especially since it will be the first Wonder Woman feature to see theatrical release, but if Jenkins’ recent comments are anything to go by, it will certainly prove interesting. According to the director, Diana’s motives are “philosophical” and concerned with helping humanity progress towards a brighter, kinder future:
Jenkins also explained the World War I setting. “My approach was to focus on telling the story of mechanised war and how that would look to a god visiting our world for the first time. I wanted the audience to understand the horrors that a war on this scale makes possible and how shocking that would be to someone who comes with a strong sense of honor and justice. She doesn’t realise yet just how senselessly dark the world can be.”
Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Chris Pine (Star Trek), Robin Wright (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Netflix’s “House of Cards”), Danny Huston (Clash of the Titans, X-Men Origins: Wolverine), David Thewlis (the Harry Potter films, The Theory of Everything), Ewen Bremner (Exodus: Gods and Kings, Snowpiercer), Saïd Taghmaoui (American Hustle), Elena Anaya (The Skin I Live In), Connie Nielsen (Gladiator, Nymphomaniac: Vol. I) and Lucy Davis (Shaun of the Dead).
