TV show trailers & images for Draw Back Your Bow, on The CW‘s Arrow. I’ve thought about it, long & hard, and realized there was no avoiding the fact that both Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), and his alter ego, have a history of bringing out the worst in women. Odd leg to start on, but bear with me. In addition to the Lance sisters – including perennial hot mess Laurel (Katie Cassidy) – there was also the homicidal Helena Bertinelli / The Huntress. Nyssa al Ghul, and Thea Queen (Willa Holland) haven’t been too happy with him, either; but they don’t count. The point seems to be that everyone who has survived being intimate with the guy, has come out the other end a little void of warranty; but wait – before you vote for Oliver’s screwiest plus one, our wildcard Bachelor contestant takes the stage! Forget ex crazy, this one hasn’t even met the man. That’s right, she comes pre-crazed.
Carrie Cutter (Amy Gumenick) comes to Starling with a claim to lay, regarding The Arrow. If you saw some kind of pun in there, it’s your own fault. As his biggest, and most devoted fan/ future waifu, she comes prepared to kill all the wrong people for the singular, right reason of impressing her intended (take that, Helena).
Yes, the phrase “who do I have to kill to get into your pants” did cross my mind. No, I’m not going to use it.
Fancying herself a costumed colleague, and clearly not one for subtlety, she has assumed the title of Cupid; because, you know… archer theme… and the coerced love thing – although, I’m not sure she gets the coercive part. While Cupid genuinely believes she & The Arrow are destined to be a thing, expect Oliver to once again learn (and I use that word loosely) about what “his women” do when he scorns them.
Cupid vs Arrow:
Now what man wouldn’t want to find a sight like this, waiting for him?
Okay – I count one, so far….
“I promise I won’t step on you; I need to maintain eye contact.”
“Only my well practiced glower can battle the crazy kind of cute.”
” – And arrow beats cupcake, sweety!”
In other news, bullet dodger Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) finally gets to spend some quality time with uber boss, Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh).
Ray Palmer vs Felicity Smoak’s resistance:
Brandon Routh: when not in pursuit of whatever passes for a World’s Greatest Boss mug, these days…
He reminds us that he once filled out a set of famous blue tights.
“I know you’ve built up a tolerance to topless boss pecs, so I mesmerize you with a slinky dress, yes?”
“Relax. It only looks like the World’s most expensive garotte from the still photographer’s angle.”
“Now, Mr. Palmer, I didn’t get to be a Lady-in-Waiting this long by taking obvious cues.”
“No Pearl necklace, Hah? Then maybe I dazzle you with my Black Pearl eyes….”
“Maaaybe you tone it down, some.”
“So if I do like this…?”
If the episode pics are any indication, there may be some bubbling, to their chemistry; but then I think: 1) there is a self-styled Cupid (complete with aphrodisiac arrows, probably) running amok, and 2) Ollie’s crazies have a tendency to target the other women in his life – and Thea’s already had her turn. Even if she has managed to stay out of his mess-making gravity well, Oliver’s lady troubles may yet interfere with Felicity’s social life – if not just her life.
Team Arrow vs Baddies of the Week:
Black Pearl eyes to the side – Felicity still gets to be a Team Arrow player.
The smart one, that knows to stay in the vehicle, when weapons come out.
In the end, however, it boils down to the under-represented love story – that of a man, and his stalker….
The trailers, one American, one Canadian, and one from New Zealand, primarily focus on the psycho stalker aspect, to the episode; but the Canuck & Kiwi cuts have decidedly more fun with both the premise, and the Felicity/ Palmer thread. Why worry over a shot of a limp Arrow (presumably a victim of a woman scorned), when you can ponder the sight of The Arrow handcuffed to the tracks, before an oncoming train (definitely a victim of a woman scorned)?
‘Draw Back Your Bow’ also features Colton Haynes, David Ramsey, Paul Blackthorne, John Barrowman, Austin Butler, and Nick Tarabay, and airs Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 8:00pm EST, on The CW.
