Big Eyes Trailer. Tim Burton‘s Big Eyes (2014) movie trailer stars Amy Adams, Krysten Ritter, Christoph Waltz, Jason Schwartzman, and Danny Huston. Big Eyes‘ plot synopsis: “Directed and produced by Tim Burton, BIG EYES is based on the true story of Walter Keane (Christoph Waltz), who was one of the most successful painters of the 1950s and early 1960s. The artist earned staggering notoriety by revolutionizing the commercialization and accessibility of popular art with his enigmatic paintings of waifs with big eyes.

The truth would eventually be discovered though: Keane’s art was actually not created by him at all, but by his wife, Margaret (Amy Adams). The Keanes, it seemed, had been living a lie that had grown to gigantic proportions. BIG EYES centers on Margaret’s awakening as an artist, the phenomenal success of her paintings, and her tumultuous relationship with her husband, who was catapulted to international fame while taking credit for her work.”

More on the film’s plot:

The story focuses on Margaret (Adams) and Walter Keane (Waltz), a pair of artists who popularized mass-produced paintings in the 1950s and 1960s that featured portraits of small children with big, sad eyes. Walter was said to be the painter, but it was later revealed that Margaret did the paintings. Margaret sued to get her share of the profits that resulted in a 1986 case in which a judge forced the couple to a “paint off” in federal court.

Big Eyes also stars Terence Stamp, Stephanie Bennett, Heather Doerksen, Andrew Airlie, Jon Polito, Elisabetta Fantone, Emily Fonda, James Saito, and Vanessa Ross.
