The character Apollo Creed was introduced and seen in the first four films in the Rocky franchise. Creed was the heavyweight champion of the world, played by Carl Weathers. Creed was the main antagonist, the Goliath to Rocky’s David. Rocky II saw Creed more as an anti-hero, focusing on his own fame-fall after failing to successful beat Rocky in the first film. As the films continue, Creed and Balboa continue a friendship-rivalry up until Creed’s death in the ring.

The spinoff will be backed by MGM studios.
