Cameron Monaghan’s Jerome Teased to Return in Season Three of Gotham

It looks like we may not have seen the last of Jerome on Gotham after all. Portrayer Cameron Monaghan gave fans a tease of his character’s return on the Fox series, which could indicate that Gotham may return to explore the origins of The Joker in the upcoming third season.

In a tweet made by the actor, Monaghan released an audio clip of him saying “Hello, Gotham”, followed by a lengthy maniacal laugh. The tease captured a brief moment from the second season finale that showed an escaped Jerome look more like the actual Clown Prince of Crime. Despite his untimely demise, who’s to say we haven’t seen the last of the potential Joker? The character’s origins remain a mystery in the comic book world, but it will be interesting to see how Gotham will introduce one of Batman’s most memorable villains.

The third season of Gotham premieres on Monday, Sept. 19 at 8PM.
