INDEPENDENCE DAY 2 (2016): Movie Poster & Synopsis are Earth-Shattering

Independence Day 2 Has a Poster

Independence Day 2 Poster and Synopsis. The sequel to Roland Emmerich‘s Independence Day has an official movie poster and plot synopsis.

Up until this point, there was little that we knew about this movie. It’s a sequel to Independence Day, and will be directed by it’s father, Roland Emmerich. Jeff GoldblumBill Pullman, and Vivica A. Fox are returning. Will Smith is not. Now we know more. Here’s a look at the poster:

Independence Day 2 movie posterThe initial plot synopsis:

After Independence Day redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global catastrophe on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.

We will be getting more of a war than an invasion scenario here. That’s exciting, I suppose. Of course, I wish these genre movies would take themselves slightly more seriously. I still remember the trailer for Battle: Los Angeles giving me goosebumps, and giving me hope that we’d finally get a more grounded invasion film. But that didn’t work out too well.
