Universal Soldier 3 starts a New Generation

universal-soldier-5-header

Universal Soldier 3 or Universal Soldier: The Next Generation is being filmed starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren. If you saw the first Universal Soldier and watched Lundgren’s Sgt. Andrew Scott get diced at the end of the film you may be wondering how he can possibly be in Universal Soldier: The Next Generation. The answer is the same one used to bring Ellen Ripley back in Aliens 5. Universal Soldier: The Next Generation plot synopsis: “The film sees Luc Deveraux (Van Damme) joining a U.S. team of Uni-Soldiers secretly held in deep storage. Their mission: retake Chernobyl and disable explosives that will unleash radioactive clouds. Luc discovers that one of the reactivated UniSoldiers is a clone of his old Sergeant, Andrew Scott (Lundgren)”. I never saw Universal Soldier: The Return or the two STV films based on the movie: Universal Soldier II: Brothers in Arms and Universal Soldier III: Unfinished Business so I have no idea why Luc Deveraux would be in cold storage. My hope is that the film is actually good or at least entertaining. What is your reaction to the creation of Universal Soldier: The Next Generation?

I’m loving Van Damme’s resurrection but I hope this has a decent budget, although the stories were out there he declined to be in Stallone’s new film I wonder if they were true or just wishful fan thinking.

I hope this film a decent budget as well.

Van Damme declined to be in Stallone’s new film because when he asked Stallone over the phone what his character was, Stallone told him: “um, you have some cool fight scenes.” If Stallone had written him a character to play and not just a collection of action scenes, he would be in the film.

Look at how far he came acting-wise in Replicant. Why would he want to back-pedal?

While I agree he mightve wanted a juicier acting part he gave up the chance to be in something that wouldve got a decent release with all the star power involved and a box office hit on your resume, even as part of a big cast, doesnt hurt your bankability.

I still need to see that film “JCVD.” I have heard good reviews and I think since “Wake of Death,” the muscles from Brussels has turned his career around.
