A WAR (2015) Movie Trailer: Pilou Asbaek’s Decision has Dire Consequences

Pilou Asbæk A War

A War Trailer. A War / Krigen (2015) movie trailer stars Pilou Asbaek, Tuva Novotny, Dar Salim, Søren Malling, and Charlotte Munck. A War‘s plot synopsis: “Company commander Claus M. Pedersen (Pilou Asbæk) and his men are stationed in an Afghan province. Meanwhile back in Denmark Claus’ wife Maria (Tuva Novotny) is trying to hold everyday life together with a husband at war and three children missing their father. During a routine mission, the soldiers are caught in heavy crossfire and in order to save his men, Claus makes a decision that has grave consequences for him – and his family back home.”

I have seen many war movies. This one seems to approach soldiers interacting with a civilian population from a different angle: unit embedded in civilian population, Taliban insurgency, a decision with consequences, a review of that decision is made while the commander’s home life begins to unravel. Upon reflection, aspects of this film do remind me of Rules of Engagement but with many differences of course, which is why the film didn’t immediately come to mind.
