TV show trailer & poster for ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. 2.16, AfterlifeAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has made it past both the Spy vs Spy arc, and the Skye (Chloe Bennet) goes Daisy arc; so now we get to see what lies on the other side.

Official ‘Afterlife’ plot synopsis:

As Robert Gonzalez makes his move, Coulson must do whatever it takes to protect the future of S.H.I.E.L.D. Meanwhile Skye’s journey to control her powers takes a surprising turn when she meets the enigmatic Inhuman named Lincoln.

Skye may have taken the world’s fastest ‘get out of jail’ card (courtesy of Jamie Harris’ Gordon), last episode, but what lies beyond the frying pan will likely take some getting used to. Enter Lincoln (Luke Mitchell); clearly the more accessible guide/ mentor, to all things Inhuman. Lincoln may prove useful to Skye in all sorts of ways; but I suppose having a ready-made friend, on the inside, will come in handy, considering that both Raina (Ruth Negga) & Doc Cal (Kyle MacLachlan) are already there.

Skye’s out will be a major concern of ousted Director, Coulson (Clark Gregg), of course; but his immediate problem will be dealing with being ousted. Having already been through the whole ‘you’re not what you think are’ wringer, with HYDRA, the current counterfeit S.H.I.E.L.D. crisis has likely been a lot to process – to say nothing of the fallout, thus far.

Coulson’s Agency agita is the subject of the next Art of S.H.I.E.L.D. poster, courtesy of Dave Johnson.

Red v Blue, Hawks v Doves, or transparency v secrets-within-secrets – that’s all up for interpretation; but the image definitely places Coulson as the source/ center of the Agency loyalty divide – right where he belongs.

The trailer, however, delves into a few details that the poster does not. For one thing, there is the fate of Agent May (Ming-Na Wen). She was left most decidedly not on the fence, regarding camp loyalties, but in the hands of Gonzales (Edward James Olmos). Between her handling, and the fact that the Coulson comeback looks to be bringing icers to a live-round gunfight, some real evidence, on which side deserves the moral high ground, may finally be presented.

‘Afterlife’ also features Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, Nick Blood, Adrianne Palicki, Henry Simmons, Dichen Lachman, Craig Johnson, Stoney Westmoreland, and John Fores. It airs Tuesday, April 7, at 9:00p.m. EST, on ABC.
