AMERICAN ASSASSIN (2017) International Movie Trailer 2: The Entire Film is Spoiled

American Assassin International Trailer 2

The second international movie trailer  for Lionsgate and CBS Films’ American Assassin (2017) spoils the entire film. All three acts of this film get ruined for the viewer when they watch this trailer. I don’t know what the producers of this film were thinking. Why give away key plot and action moments in your film? Why give away the resolution to third act in the final moments of a trailer? They literally show the viewer…you’ll see (if you dare). The producers of this trailer just killed the suspense at the end of the film and for major moments in this film.

This happens so many times. The people behind a film are so desperate to get people into theaters with their trailers that they put things into those trailers that should be left for the viewer to discover while watching the film.

The point of a trailer is to teaser and intrigue, not to spoil, not to be a highlight reel of the best, most costly moments in the film. The latter is exactly what the second U.K. movie trailer for American Assassin is, more’s the pity.

American Assassin‘s plot synopsis: based on the book by Vince Flynn, “AMERICAN ASSASSIN follows the rise of Mitch Rapp (Dylan O’Brien), a CIA black ops recruit under the instruction of Cold War veteran Stan Hurley (Michael Keaton). The pair is then enlisted by CIA Deputy Director Irene Kennedy (Sanaa Lathan) to investigate a wave of apparently random attacks on both military and civilian targets. Together the three discover a pattern in the violence leading them to a joint mission with a lethal Turkish agent (Shiva Negar) to stop a mysterious operative (Taylor Kitsch) intent on starting a World War in the Middle East.”

Michael Cuesta‘s American Assassin stars Dylan O’Brien, Michael Keaton, Sanaa Lathan, Taylor Kitsch, Shiva Negar, Kamil Lemieszewski, Navid Negahban, Göksun Çam, Kiera Bell, Sydney White, Evie Wray, Trevor White, and Alaa Safi.

American Assassin was written by Stephen Schiff, Michael Finch, Edward Zwick, and Marshall Herskovitz.

American Assassin was being produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Nick Wechsler.
