ARROW: Liam Neeson Would Play Ra’s al Ghul ‘In a Hearbeat’

Liam Neeson Ras Al Ghul

Liam Neeson Would Play Ra’s al Ghul on Arrow. It was announced at the 2014 San Diego Comic Con that the next major villain in Arrow’s upcoming third season would be Ra’s al Ghul in the flesh. With casting underway on who would be playing the leader of the League of Assassins, only one person who previously played the role would be willing to play him again if he can. According to ComingSoon.net, Liam Neeson spoke with MTV about possibly reprising his role as Ra’s al Ghul.

Liam Neeson’s answer was that he hasn’t been approached to reprise the role, but if he was picked he said, “I would, in a heartbeat, if it came my way, yeah, very much so.” The last time Neeson played the iconic villain was in Christopher Nolan’s final film in his Batman trilogy, which was 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises.

Even though it’s probably less likely that Liam Neeson would be playing Ra’s al Ghul in Arrow, the actor did give some advice to whoever would be filling the role. Here’s what he said:

“They have to believe in their philosophy. Ra’s al Ghul absolutely believed what he was doing was ultimately saving civilization, and it was quite a good argument he comes up with. Throughout the ages this fraternity, that brought the plague to wipe out a section of mankind because it needed to be regenerated again. Very dangerous, but you have to believe it.”

It was in Batman Begins when we were first introduced to Neeson’s Ra’s al Ghul, the leader of the mysterious League of Shadows where Bruce Wayne was undergoing training until he found out the League’s true purpose for Gotham City. Based on the trailer for Arrow, it looks like Starling city will be dealing with the same situation as Gotham with the League trying to wipe out the city.

Here’s wishing whoever jumps into the role good luck for fighting against Team Arrow.
