Matt Ryan Explains How Constantine Becomes a Part of Arrow. It was back in May when NBC decided to pull the plug on Constantine after a low-rated first season, but the occult detective will return in next week’s Arrow. According to Matt Ryan, it will be a seamless transition.

In a recent interview, Ryan spoke about how John Constantine was being adjusted into the Arrowverse and the difficulty getting back into his former role. “There are certain things he’s doing, like picking up a sword and fighting with it, that are slightly different,” Ryan told Variety. He also adds:

And there was a period of adjustment as well, when I first put on the trenchcoat again. The first take I thought, ‘What am I doing?’ But after a while it was like, ‘Ah, there he is. There’s the posture. There’s the physicality of him.’ What’s great about that episode is that John comes into this Arrow world, and everyone doesn’t believe, or doesn’t know about, these occult worlds beyond ours, and John’s just like, ‘Look, this is the way sh— is.’ And he’s an arrogant bastard as well, so everyone’s a bit thrown off by him.

He also thanked fans for their dying love and support for the NBC show and for not giving up on it. “It’s crazy. They’ve been some of the most amazing fans. Even now they’re hashtagging #BringBackConstantine,” he said.

Even former Constantine EP Daniel Cerone showed some support for the show through Twitter, reminding fans to catch the one-time TV crossover on Arrow. He also offered fans a script of what would’ve happened in the 14th episode of Constantine, had it been picked up. But what fans really asked Cerone was whether the success of the crossover would prompt The CW to pick up the series. Creole responded with this tweet: “For those asking if ?#ConstantineOnArrow ratings might lead to CW reconsidering ?#Constantine, I have no idea. But one can hope.”

And what does Constantine himself think? Ryan replied, “It’s a shame we weren’t able to find a home for the show. Those cult fans, they’re hardcore, you know. I love them. They’re so loyal. Just putting the trench coat on for Arrow, it did kind of sadden me a little bit. There are 300 issues of that comic book, and there are so many great stories to tell. We were just getting started, man.”

Let’s hope it happens down the line. In the meantime, are you guys excited for John Constantine to team up with Green Arrow?
