BATMAN V SUPERMAN (2016): Jason Momoa Promises No Jokes on AQUAMAN
Jason Momoa Doesn’t Think Aquaman Will Be a Joke After Batman v Superman. Aquaman’s comic book life hasn’t been easy with fans over the years. But all that is about to change with Jason Momoa’s take on the character in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Jason Momoa was at the Fan Expo in Canada last weekend and answered some fan questions regarding his portrayal of Aquaman. He didn’t go into specifics, but he did mention a few details on his version of the aquatic hero. Courtesy of ScreenRelish, Momoa was asked how Aquaman’s personality was different from the more serious tone of Batman and Superman. Momoa explained that his character isn’t laid back, saying, “I can’t see me busting out a bunch of jokes. I mean, I don’t think it’ll be like that.” He didn’t confirm or deny whether Aquaman would be in direct conflict with the Man of Steel or the Dark Knight during Batman v Superman.
Ever since news broke about Momoa’s casting, fans wondered if they would be seeing a more barbaric version of the Atlantian prince, similar to his other character Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones. The actor jokingly said, “I don’t think Aquaman’s going to be raping and pillaging any villages.”
Whatever the case, it looks like this version of Aquaman will be the most kickass hero we’ve seen. Being the punchline of everyone’s jokes, Momoa is looking forward to changing everyone’s perception of the character. “You know, it’s cute and funny, I mean people make fun of him and there’s a bunch of jokes about him,” he said. He also added, “But I’m like ‘Well… just wait. Let’s just wait a little bit. And then we can make jokes…'”
