BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE (2016): Movie Poster, Trailer Breakdown & Casting

Clean Empire cover variant poster, trailer breakdown, and casting news for DOJ.  Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice almost won Comic Con, this year (beat out by Hunger Games: Mockingjay 2, on the Twitter-verse), but aims to keep the momentum going, heading towards the first real shot across the bow, at the Marvel JCU.

To that end, Empire Magazine & the DC All Access page, on YouTube, have provided a cover story – complete with a fresh cover image, of the titular twosome, and additional movie images – and a detailed breakdown of the Comic Con trailer – complete with confirmation of Tao Okamoto’s role – respectively.

The Empire cover provided a frontal, full body, shoulder-to-shoulder profile of Batman (Ben Affleck) & Superman (Henry Cavill); but an alternate ‘clean’ version has since been made available, courtesy of MessyPandas.

Note the note about the mild mannered alter-ego version… but we don’t care about those guys….

Ben Affleck & Henry Cavill dressed for a night out to remember. Insert relevant strut music as respectively appropriate.

Yes, Ben’s Bat’s plenty buff; but that’s in keeping with Frank Miller‘s hulked out The Dark Knight Returns version. Yes, Batfleck has a neck – it’s under the cape & cowl juncture.

At DC All Access, in the meantime, a detailed breakdown of the DOJ Comic Con trailer probably makes the best case for the film I’ve yet seen (still grimey looking, though) – but I hesitate to dismiss the All Access channel as a propaganda outfit.

DC All Access, Batman v Superman Comic Con breakdown:

Among the many tidbits detailed, our hosts take the time to highlight Tao Okamoto (The Wolverine) in the role of Mercy Graves, Gal Friday/ body guard to Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg).

Tao Okamoto as Mercy Graves

It would be next to impossible to focus on that scene, without noting her custody of the late Gen. Zod’s body. As it seems this has been left mostly speculation free, I submit that the inclusion of an original (turned canon) character, created for Superman: TAS, might leave room for a plot from the same source <cough>Bizarro clone<cough> ‘scuse me.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice also stars Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Holly Hunter, Callan Mulvey, Tj Norris, Ray Fisher, and Jeremy Irons. It is scheduled for a March 25, 2016 U.S. theatrical release.
