A new Battlestar Galactica spin-off pilot is moving ahead at the SyFy Channel. The prequel is entitled Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome and the possible new series will focus on Ensign William Adama during the tenth year of the first Cyclon War. The two-hour pilot will be produced by David Eick but Ronald D. Moore is not involved. SyFy Channel’s official announcement:
Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome takes place in the 10th year of the first Cylon war. As the battle between humans and their creation, a sentient robotic race, rages across the 12 colonial worlds, a brash rookie viper pilot enters the fray. Ensign William Adama, barely in his 20’s and a recent Academy graduate, finds himself assigned to the newest battlestar in the Colonial fleet… the Galactica. The talented but hot-headed risk-taker soon finds himself leading a dangerous top secret mission that, if successful, will turn the tide of the decade long war in favor of the desperate fleet. “The ‘Galactica’ universe as re-imagined by Ron Moore and David Eick is rich with possibilities and backstory,” said SyFy’s Mark Stern. “We jumped at the chance to revisit the William Adama character and explore this exciting chapter in the BSG narrative which falls between the events of the original series and the prequel, ‘Caprica,’ currently airing on Syfy.”

Michael Taylor wrote the teleplay from a story by Eick, Taylor and Bradley Thompson & David Weddle.
This sounds like part of Battlestar Galactica: Razor when Adama finds where they made one of the first hybrids but I could be very wrong. This series may predate that event. A Battlestar Galactica timeline from Bob’s comment at Deadline:
BSG: BC does take place 2 years before those flashbacks [in Battlestar Galactica: Razor], because in those clips it said they were already like 4,571 days into war right when it ended which like 12 years… So if anything we can get a cool season or two of awesome battles while Caprica fleshes out the 6 years it took before the war started.
Caprica the series = 58 years before bsg pilot, cylon war ended 40 years prior to pilot, war was 12 years long, so it must’ve started 52 years before or 6 years after the start of Caprica pilot.
I just hope this Battlestar Galactica series does not go off on some abysmal tangent and stay there like Caprica has. Gods. I wonder if the same actor that played young Adama in Razor (Nico Cortez) will play him in Blood and Chrome. I am looking forward to Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome. Are you?
