Starz‘s Black Sails: Season 4 teaser trailer stars Ray Stevenson, Tom Hopper, and Hannah New. Black Sails: Season 4’s plot synopsis: “Draw your swords; Nassau’s final chapter will be written in blood.”

Season 4 of Black Sails will lead up to, as much as is narratively possible, to the events in the beginning of Robert Louis Stevenson‘s Treasure Island. When you remember the character that shows up at the beginning of Treasure Island, you realize how important that character truly is on Black Sails.

When word was released about the cancellation of Black Sails, it was bittersweet. I love the show. It’s riveting, well-written and well-acted. I was happy to see, however, that the creators of the show cared enough about it to end it strongly instead of dragging it out. I saw that with Dexter, Fringe, Dollhouse, and Californication. None of the those shows ended well (some were lousy disasters). Taking the Seinfeld–Penny Dreadful approach is the right move to make.

The trailer for Season 4 starts out with a drumbeat and then hammers home the coming drama for the final season. The teaser trailer features a voice over by either Billy Bones (Tom Hopper) or John Silver (Luke Arnold):

There isn’t a good man among them, not anymore. Some of them may have been, some of them may be again. Good men are not what the moment requires; the time calls for dark men to do dark things. Do not be afraid to lead them to it.

Because of the word choice, I believe that speaker of those words if Billy Bones, a character that grew in importance throughout Season 3.

Black Sails: Season 4’s also stars Jessica Parker Kennedy, Toby Schmitz, Clara Paget, Craig Jackson, Jason Delplanque, Grant Ross, and David Wilmot.
