Box Office: February 10-12, 2017

The LEGO Batman Movie premiered in the Number One spot at the box office over the weekend with $55.6 Million. Fifty Shades Darker premiered in Second Place with $46.7 Million. Fans of the first film and the second book in the book series turned out to see the film adaptation this weekend.

John Wick: Chapter Two premiered in Third Place with $30 Million. That take virtually guarantees that there will be a John Wick: Chapter Three. I have not seen Chapter Two yet but the question is, can the storyline of the series sustain a third installment?

Split was Fourth Place with $9.3 Million for $112.2 Million so far. Split is M. Night Shyamalan‘s comeback film and I hope his next film is even better, continuing his current upswing. Hidden Figures was Fifth with $8 Million for $131.4 Million so far. A Dog’s Purpose, Rings, La La Land, Lion, and The Space Between Us rounded out the top ten respectively.

Domestically, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter and xXx: The Return of Xander Cage both sank like stones in the ocean this weekend. Internationally, however, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage is doing well. xXx: The Return of Xander Cage made $61.9 Million in China this weekend. World-wide, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage has made $229.5 Million so far.
