CAPTAIN AMERICA 3: Director Hints What’s Next for Chris Evan’s Role

Anthony Russo Hints What’s Next for Cap in Captain America 3. Even though the third Captain America movie doesn’t come out till 2016 doesn’t mean that fans won’t get an idea of what the next film is about. According to the Hollywood Reporter, co-director Anthony Russo gave some hints at what’s coming up for the First Avenger including a possible conclusion to the character.

Talking with Movies.com, Anthony Russo said, “I can’t divulge who is going to be in the film, but I think fans are going to freak out when they hear about it.” Based off of what Russo said, it’s easy to assume that he is referring to Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye character making an appearance in Captain America 3. Renner did tell Collider recently that there was some talk on him making an appearance. There also wasn’t any indication on whether Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow would also make an appearance after being on Winter Soldier. Even though he refused to name names, Russo said he plans on pushing the Star-Spangled hero even further. “We always want to be true to who Captain America is, but we want to surprise people about where he can go and what he’s capable of. That’s about as specific as I can get about where we might take him,” he said.

Another bit of intel can be found in Anthony Russo’s other interview with MTV News. When Russo was asked if the third Captain America movie was going to follow Iron Man 3’s example by giving the character closure. Russo didn’t deny or confirm this saying that it was a “hard question to answer.”

If this was the end of Chris Evans’ character, would we see Captain America passing on the mantle to someone else like say Falcon or Winter Soldier? Screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely did said they found inspiration from the comics, so it would be about time for Sebastian Stan’s character to start preparing to take the lead in a few years.

Captain America 2, entitled Captain America: The Winter Soldier, starred Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Samuel L. Jackson, Maximiliano Hernández, Robert Redford, Cobie Smulders, Georges St-Pierre, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Dominic Cooper, Stan Lee, Jenny Agutter, Alan Dale, and Emily VanCamp.
