Cardboard Boxer Trailer

Knate Lee‘s Cardboard Boxer (2016) movie trailer stars Thomas Haden Church, Terrence Howard, Boyd Holbrook, Rhys Wakefield, and Marlo Thomas. Cardboard Boxer‘s plot synopsis: “Willie (Thomas Haden Church), homeless and on skid row, is coerced by two teens to fight other men for cash. Now involved in a violent world he can’t understand and with few human connections beyond a girl’s diary he found, Willie struggles to find a way out.”

Videotapping homeless people fighting each other was in the news years ago. A few movies have been made on the subject matter but none like this. Cardboard Boxer looks touching. Willie (Thomas Haden Church) actually seems to go through an arc in this film. The most intriguing part of the trailer is the notebook that Willie finds, learning to read cursive, etc. What Boyd Holbrook’s wounded veteran does for the film should be good as well.
