Channing Tatum Set to Appear in Movie Based on His Children’s Book

Channing Tatum will be starring in a currently untitled film adaptation of his recent children’s story, The One and Only Sparkella.

Channing Tatum proved that he has a sensitive side this year with two high-profile, back-to-back box-hits. In Dog, Tatum showed that he could handle a dramatic role with terrific precision and sensitivity while in The Lost City, he managed to steam up the screen with sex symbol Sandra Bullock. Now, the actor is taking on a role in a movie based on his own children’s book, The One and Only Sparkella.

As of now, the forthcoming movie has no title but the upcoming live action film adaptation is going to be made for MGM. It will showcase Tatum in the central role of a father who becomes immersed in his young daughter’s imagination. It is not certain who will be playing the role of the child in the movie. This storybook, The One and Only Sparkella, was released a year ago and did surprisingly well in its debut. There is a sequel to this book which will be coming out later this month as well. It will be released right after Memorial Day weekend. Tatum dressed up in girl attire to promote the first book which he wrote as a tribute to the love between a father and his daughter.

Channing Tatum has made headlines recently for his role in the wild upcoming movie sequel, Magic Mike’s Last Dance, which is on the completely opposite end of the spectrum when compared to the innocuous story that was featured in the book, The One and Only Sparkella.

Tatum has proved himself a very versatile actor for years but the projects he usually took on were always hit or miss. Perhaps his most popular romance movie of all-time was called The Vow, a 2012 movie where he played opposite Rachel McAdams. That movie made more than $125 million and bested some of his action pictures at the domestic box-office, including the very big budgeted effort, G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Before this year’s success, Tatum could be seen in small roles in comic blockbusters such as Free Guy.

The One and Only Sparkella is the type of book that appeals mostly to kids (primarily young girls) and wasn’t officially reviewed by all the major book reviewing outlets but it remains a book that has nevertheless won over groups of readers of all ages, many of whom have shared the story (which is filled with joy) with others.

While Tatum may have to wait a bit before the movie adaptation of his kids’ book (which he is also producing) actually goes into production, don’t estimate this gifted actor who has worn many different hats in the entertainment industry. Many of those hats have been worn to a great degree of success. He actually directed Dog. More will be revealed as news of his upcoming film is made available to the public.
