DC Universe Pricing and Stargirl Series Revealed at the 2018 San Diego Comic Con

The pricing for DC Comics new streaming service DC Universe has been revealed at the 2018 San Diego Comic Con as well as a live-action Stargirl series. Buttressed by Warner Bros. Digital Networks and created by Warner Bros. Digital Labs, the streaming service, beginning in the Fall of 2018, will be priced at $7.99 monthly (plus tax, if applicable in your state) and $74.99 annually (plus tax, if applicable in your state). If you pre-order the service for a year, subscribers will be given an extra three months of DC Universe at no cost. Both ordering options (monthly and yearly) are currently available for pre-order (they will go live this Fall) by those wishing for instant access the moment the streaming service becomes available. This strategy will help some people avoid glitches that might occur when a tremendous amount of people try to sign up for DC Universe coterminous i.e. the day the streaming service launches.

To help avoid that and build momentum,

From the DC Universe home page, it is made clear what a purchaser can expect within DC Universe: the previous Batman animated TV series, classics like Lynda Carter‘s Wonder Woman TV series, Tim Burton‘s Batman films, as well as newbies. The newbies include: a live-action Titans (the trailer was released today), a live-action Doom Patrol TV series, and a live-action Stargirl TV series.

Stargirl

The live-action Stargirl series will be written and executive produced by DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns.

The first season, following trained gymnast and kickboxer Courtney Whitmore, will be thirteen episodes long and the fourth live action series for DC Universe. “In the new series, the plan is high school student Whitmore bands together with the Justice Society of America to fight villains, past and present. Stargirl joins Titans and Doom Patrol as live action projects.”

This hints at the fact that we might see a Justice Society of America TV series or at least some its members.

Stargirl will premeire on DC Universe in 2019.
