Deadpool 3 May Not Be Moving Forward

According to comic book and Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld, Marvel Studio has “zero” plans to move forward with a third Deadpool movie. At the very least, they have no intention of going forward with a R-rated one. When Deadpool came under the Marvel umbrella thanks to the Fox acquisition, many thought that spelled doom for the “merc with the mouth”‘s current on-screen adventures. Other people were optimistic. Some may have even speculated that Marvel would create a small R-rated branch to handle films like Deadpool and TV series like Daredevil, The Punisher, etc. (BTW I can hear you laughing. It’s not kind). None of that is to be and its seems further Deadpool movie adventures, at least in their current incarnation, have been shelved.

Liefeld took part in an interview with Inverse and at the 13:07 mark in the video, begins speaking about Deadpool / Marvel, saying that: “I feel like Deadpool, the movies, they’ve set sail.” He goes on to speak about Marvel’s plans for Deadpool, holding up his hands, creating a zero before saying “zero.”

The interview is very funny and Liefeld appears to be a realist. If Disney, the owners of Marvel Studios, is busy censoring Splash and other films on Disney+:

They have little-to-no intention of releasing a R-rated, raunchy, bloody film under their premiere superhero banner in-theaters, currently a banner that they have not yet defiled (reference Lucasfilm).
