Plot Synopsis

Downhill‘s plot synopsis: the American remake of the Swedish film Force Majeure, “Barely escaping an avalanche during a family ski vacation in the Alps, a married couple is thrown into disarray as they are forced to reevaluate their lives and how they feel about each other. Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Will Ferrell star in this biting comedy.”

Will Ferrell stars opposite Julia Louis-Dreyfus in this darkly comic disaster film about a long-married couple who, while on a vacation in the Alps, suffers a near-death experience when an avalanche nearly hits their ski lodge.

Ferrell’s character lands himself in the doghouse when his wife (Louis-Dreyfus) becomes increasingly disgusted by his snap decision to flee and leave her and their children behind during the chaotic event. Their marriage is put through the wringer as they try to salvage their vacation and also their now-fractured relationship.
